The day is upon us. The day that reminds unattached people that they might be perpetually single. The day that couples prepare for for months. The day that all your social media looks like red and pink and hearts and roses and dates and engagements and on and on and on for a full 36 hours.
Some of us don't care for this manufactured holiday. Some of us would love nothing more than to have bae sweep us off our feet for a whirlwind VDay. Maybe you're somewhere in the middle. Either way, there's no reason why you can't do a little something to celebrate the love you have for yourself.
Since your most important relationship is with YOU, here are 7 ways you can be your own bae this Valentine's Day.
Make (or go get) your favorite meal. If you want a steak, make a bomb ass steak. Or go have one at your favorite restaurant. Maybe you want a Chipotle bowl. Maybe you want Fruity Pebbles. Do your thing, shawty. It's your day.
Give yourself a spa day - at home or at the salon. Get a luxurious facial or DIY it at home. Run yourself a nice bath with bubbles and candles. Make a mani/pedi appointment or paint your toes ten different colors.
Create a sexy atmosphere just for you. Whatever makes you feel sexy, go do that. Put on some music that makes your hips sway, put on something that makes you feel Beyonce-flawless. Or take everything off. Light candles or incense, turn the lights down low....and anything you want to do after that is your business. (You go, girl.)
Take yourself on a date. Name a thing you've always wanted to do and go do it. It doesn't have to be cliche and super-romantic. Go for anything that delights you and have some fun!
Go shopping. Real shopping, online shopping, window shopping, pretend shopping, whatever your budget will allow. Treat yo'self to something nice. You deserve it.
Do whatever you want to do. Do the things you long to do when you find yourself in a place you'd rather not be. Netflix and chill. Take a nap. Sit and write. Make some tea. Anything your heart desires.
Send love to someone else. Letting someone else know you love them will make the both of you feel good. And of course, whatever you put out will come back to you. Love on somebody with a letter, a card, a phone call, a text message, or a simple thought or prayer.
