Essentially, self-care is the powerful and intentional choice to engage in actions that enhance your overall physical, mental, and/or spiritual health. Doing something that makes you happy, makes you feel good, and restores you to optimum function. This can be anything from taking a walk, talking to a friend, painting your toe nails, or just sitting in silence. Whatever feels good for YOU.
Because YOU matter. Because your health matters. Because you want to present your best self to the world. Because you deserve to be taken care of. Because you can't be of any use to anyone else if you don't have your shit together.
You know how the flight attendant goes through that redundant airplane safety routine and always tells you that when the oxygen masks drop, you need to put yours on FIRST, before helping anyone else?
